Water Apple

Why are they unique? 


A pear shaped soft and watery fruit with pleasant aroma and sweet, either rose or water apple are common fruit throughout Sri Lanka. Children love to eat Jambu since most of varieties are sweet, firm and crispy texture. Jambu is mainly naturally grown in forests and cultivated in home gardens. Jambu can be used to produce different value added products such as salads. In addition to that research and development activities should initiate to identify maturity index for different types of Jambu, storage methods, environmental and consumer friendly ripening methods, development of value added products with enhanced shelf life and preserve nutritional quality etc.
