Folate (Folic acid) (Vitamin B9)

Functions:
  • Needed for protein tissue formation
  • Promotes formation normal red blood cells

Deficiency:
  • Anemia, diarrhea, red sore tongue, neural tube effects, low birth weight, increased risk of heart disease and stroke

Recommended Requirement 
  • 400 micro gram
  • Higher doses may cover up signs of vitamin B12 deficiency
